I'm working on several tunes, some of which will end up as kind of a suite. It's a complex project ranging from faux-EDM to large orchestral. It's mostly sample-based, but I am learning a couple of softsynths and might eventually add some of that as a flavour.
I'm also looking into using social media to complement this web page. More on that later.
Twelve years ago, I quit music. Actually, I more or less quit sounds all together. All needed silence to function. Through most of my life at that point, my brain had entertained me with an ever-present stream of melodies, harmonies and rhythm, but from this point on, there was no more of that.
Then, after ten years, musical fragments began sneaking into my consciousness again. Maybe the cue was my repeated singing to my newborn son. I took this reawakening of my inner autonomous musical monologue as an excuse to revisit music – and kind of liked it.
Since last I did the composer/arranger/musician thing, three major changes had apparently occured.
I've set this page up as a handy overview for anyone who'd like to know more about what I'm up to. These people actually exist.
I'm also on Mastodon now:
I've released some music – like properly (digitally). To find it, have a look here:
There's more coming in the next few months, as I slowly compile an actual album. Very slowly.
I tend to publish stuff before finishing. It's actually a strategy. The last pieces never fall into place in my mind until I'm faced with an actual audience, even if only imagined. Usually, a lot of the near-sightedness you get from working intensely on something just disappears at the exact moment I hit ”publish”, but no sooner no matter what I try.
So a seemingly good strategy has been to publish and revise. And for that, I primarily use these channels:
If you just want to browse through everything, released or not quite yet so, here's a handy widget.
If you want to get in touch, an e-mail to music@ruderalia.net should do the trick.
